"On each of us thy learning shed"

Ruddigore

Paul Taylor will present another of his studies of an opera, illustrated in 'many various ways'.

The January 2015 meeting – A Study evening on Ruddigore given by our member Paul Taylor was eagerly anticipated, having been postponed when scheduled for the corresponding meeting in the 2013-14 season.

Paul’s factual and visual presentation, which of course also included musical excerpts, was a real treat that contained fascinating historical detail either related by Paul himself or by well delivered readings by other Society members.  In these readings we heard the thoughts of Henry Lytton and Jessie Bond the singer/actors who created the roles of Robin Oakapple and Mad Margaret.

All of Paul’s audience whilst delighting in being reminded of a work they love and know, must also have learned one or two new things about this lovely, if slightly diverse collaboration, from Messrs Gilbert and Sullivan.
