Changed from original published schedule
remarkable people in history

Meeting Cancelled

Simon Theobald will present the life of Rutland Barrington, bass-baritone in the original company and sing some of the songs first sung by Barrington.

Many of us have enjoyed Simon's singing, acting and speaking at Buxton.

Rutland Barrington was a long-standing member of the original D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and created several of the roles in the operas. In addition, he was also a writer and performer outside of the world of G&S. Simon Theobald has enjoyed a varied performing career with amateur theatre and opera groups. He has accepted an offer from the Manchester branch of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society to present an interesting study on the life of Rutland Barrington, and sing a few of Barrington's songs.
